The glamorous parade will begin opposite Chabad of South Broward Headquarters, 1295 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd, and head west with unwavering Jewish pride to Gulfstream Park’s Orange Parking Lot at 901 S. Federal Highway where children can enjoy unlimited fun on over 50 amusement park rides and carnival games.

The fair will also feature a free concert starring Israel’s biggest singing sensation, Gad Elbaz plus the energetic beats of Jewish Reggae Band Skafyah and the ever popular Yossi Bayles and his YBO Orchestra singing contemporary, traditional and sefardic tunes. In addition the Lag B‘omer Parade and Fair will feature a glatt kosher barbecue and traditional bonfire.

Lag B’omer marks the passing of one of Judaism’s greatest sages, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai - author of the Zohar. He promised his people, that in a time of emergency, he can be relied upon on high for salvation. His wish, though, upon passing was that the 33rd day of the (Lag B‘) Omer, this year, Sunday, May 2 - be observed with great joy and celebrations.

In Meron, Israel and throughout the Holy Land, hundreds of thousands celebrate Lag B’omer with bonfires, special outings and a pilgrimage to his resting place. These celebrations are known to dot the entire landscape of the land.

In spring 1944, while the world was in an enormous upheaval and Jewry’s anxiety was at a peak, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, reignited the spark of Jewish pride and unity by calling for the very first Lag B’omer Parade to march through the streets of Brooklyn, NY; thousands attended.

This year in America and throughout the world, these celebrations will take on added significance due to the current events involving the well-being of the Jewish People, especially those living in Israel.

In Brooklyn, “The Largest Jewish Children’s Parade in the World” is being planned. An estimated 75,000 men, women and children will convene on Eastern Parkway, to celebrate with Judaism’s top singers coming together in concert and to enjoy a day of festivities and fun.

The more than 100 Chabad Centers in South Florida have therefore come together to help organize for the entire Jewish community a similar day of festivities by offering the ultimate “Lag B’Omer Unity Parade and Fair” – Free of charge. Thousands of men, women and children from throughout South Florida are expected to attend, en-masse, to express Jewish Pride, Joy and Unity.

Gulfstream Park in Hallandale is geared up for this special event. It will join hands with the New York Parade via video stream and tap into the ecstatic joy of the many historic parades gathering simultaneously throughout the country.
